About Ken

Ken Hofer was a 1963 graduate of Central DeWitt High School. His three children, as well as two of his grandchildren, are also Central DeWitt graduates.

While in high school, Ken was a standout basketball player and carried his love for the game clear until his death in 2014. He played basketball with guys half his age until 2012 when the doctors told him he could no longer play. He was also very active in FFA and 4-H. Farming was his number one love where he embraced the newest technology, being the first in the area to “computerize.”

When you hear the statement, “he never knew a stranger,” that describes Ken exactly. He loved talking to people and learning about their lives no matter where he went.

His strong faith carried him through four years of cancer treatments, all the while keeping a positive attitude, and never losing his smile. His family is honored that HFF has chosen to celebrate Ken with this scholarship.
